School Based
Work
Project staff work in the local primary and secondary
schools and offer a range of supports and services to the schools and
their pupils. The services that are provided range from individual counselling,
support, advocacy and problem solving with individuals to working alongside
school staff to provide groupwork programmes on a wide range of topics.
Reports are completed on a regular basis outlining work undertaken within
groupwork programmes.
Currently the Project is working with James Gillespie's
High School and its feeder primary schools, Royal Mile, Preston Street,
Sciennes, James Gillespie's and Tollcross.
Referral
or Support Work
The Project offers this service to young people
and their families and referrals can be made for a wide variety of reasons.
These can include offending, family difficulties, abusive situations,
general support and problem solving, isolation, anger management, low
self esteem, school based difficulties, housing issues, and mental health
difficulties.
This service is available to the 5 - 21 year old
age range that the Project works with. Referrals are made by a wide
variety of individuals and agencies within the community and these include
Schools, Social Workers, the Police, Educational Psychologists, the
Reporter, voluntary organisations and by parents and young people themselves.
