Vacancies
We are now recruiting volunteers for next years
programme (starting late August 2010) in all areas of the Projects
work!
Training Opportunities
The project holds regular training sessions for volunteers.
Some recent training sessions have included First Aid, Managing Challenging
Behaviour and Child Protection. We also have access to a wide range
of training provided outwith the Project.
Interested
in Volunteering?
We always welcome new volunteers to the project. The
majority of volunteers work in one of the youth clubs which meet in the
evenings (see youth work club programme). However there are some opportunities
also available within the Training Services daytime programme and Options+.
Provided the prospective volunteer has a genuine interest
in and commitment to working with children and young people, the Project
is flexible enough to accommodate most people regardless of their level
of experience or ability. We encourage volunteers to challenge themselves
and we strive to give the necessary support training and information
to enable them to do so. However, we are aware that every volunteer
has a different level of required support and that volunteers have the
right to develop at their own pace. To this end, we never put pressure
on any volunteer to perform any task they feel uncomfortable with.
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering,
please contact a member of staff and arrange to come into the Project
and discuss your interests further. At that initial meeting you can
discuss what you would hope to get out of the experience and also what
you could offer the Project. We will ask you to complete a short application
form which will include the names and addresses of two references whom
we will contact. In addiition you will be asked to undertake a Disclosure
Scotland Check and you will be asked to complete a brief form which
asks you to disclose any Criminal Convictions.
You will be allocated to a link worker who will
provide you with support and supervision during your time at the Project.
In addition you will be encouraged to attend regular events in our training
programme which also includes some social events.
Finally, all the Project staff hope that your involvement at CYP
is enjoyable and of benefit to yourself and the young people who use
the Project.
The easiest way to begin the process is to telephone
the project on 0131 556 9719.
