Training Services offers a Get Ready for Work Programme
funded by Skills
Development Scotland. The programme is for 16-18 year olds who have
officially left school and are not engaged in any other training. The
programme is open young people living in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Programme
The programme aims to move young people onto employment,
further education or training. This is achieved by building skills such
as team building, communication and confidence. The programme also helps
with job skills such as CV writing, completing application forms, job
searching and interview techniques.
There is also the opportunity for young people to take
part in a work experience placement. Young people have individual goals
to achieve during their time on the programme and are given support
to allow them to do this.
The programme is full time and young people are expected
to attend Monday - Friday, starting at 9.15am. The programme has spaces
for up to 35 young people.
Benefits of Attending Get Ready
for Work
Young people on the programme are paid a weekly training
allowance of £55 as well as a travel allowance and paid holidays.
The programme also provides the opportunity to meet new people and take
part in activities to improve skills, confidence and knowledge.
Referral and Recruitment
Young people must be referred to this service by
Careers
Scotland and the length of referral is up to 6 months. Following
