Complaints Procedure
We have just published a new
document giving details of how to lodge a complaint about CYP or
any of our services and detailing the procedures involved in processing
any complaints we receive.
Mystery solved!
Those of you who remember our appeal for
someone to identify the faces in the
mystery film we unearthed some time ago will be interested to hear
that we have had an email
from an ex-member Gary Dempsey from way back giving us all the details
we were looking for!
Great stuff, Gary - thank you very much!
Summer outings
We now have some great pics for you from
CYP's various outings this summer, such as The Banana Club enjoying
Gorgie City Farm, The Tuesday Club's visit Strathclyde Country Park,
The Thursday Club's water sports at Lochearnhead and the Primary 7s'
expedition to Mull!
Just go to our photo
album page to view them all.
The Southsider
Some bad news but lots of good news from
CYP's Summer 2009 contribution to The Southsider which you can read
here. Also, warm
congratulations to The Southsider from all of us at CYP on their 50th
edition!
Calling all budding musicians!
The CYP Music Club, which takes place every
Monday evening between 6.45pm and 8.45pm (apart from school holidays
and public holidays) would like to extend a welcome to anyone aged between
12 and 17 who has an interest in developing skills in drum kit, guitar,
bass, singing and songwriting.
As well as these opportunities there is also
the chance to access our professional standard recording
studio (with the support of our recording engineer). You then have
the option, if you want, to showcase your best tracks on this website
and give your new musical career a boost!
The club costs 50p a week and is open to
all 12 to 17 year olds living in our South Central Edinburgh catchment
area. For further details contact Stevie Palmer (Project Worker) at
CYP on: 556-9719
Living Memories
Two CYP members, Debbie Ramsay and Debbie
Smith, who are trainees in CYP's Get Ready for
Work programme have recently been featured in The Southsider because
of their involvement in a project with Edinburgh's Living
Memory Association.
This
article details how they designed their project and the
poster they produced on completion of the project highlights some
of the differences between life in Edinburgh now and in "the olden
days!"
Annual Report 2008
Our annual report for 2008 was published on 5th December
and is available to view here.
Mystery film footage - update!
The great news is that two former members of the Canongate
Youth Project have contacted us to say that they were original participants
in the film and know many of those involved! We will get back to you
in due course once we have done a bit more detective work...
Wednesday Club Bebo site
The Wednesday Club has just launched its new site on Bebo
and you can access it
here!
Mystery film footage
This is a section from
a piece of mainly black and white film which was found gathering
dust in an old filing cabinet at CYP and it is thought to be part of
one of our first ever film projects! If you recognise any of the young
participants please let us know.

Stuart Mair - Youth Services Manager of the Year 2008!

Stuart Mair
Undoubtedly the highlight of the Project year so far was
our Project Co-ordinator, Stuart Mair being nominated for and winning
the Scottish Voluntary Organisations Youth Services Manager of
the Year award. His citation recognised the Projects 30th anniversary
and the fact that over 1200 volunteers have passed through CYP
during that time.
On behalf of all the paid staff, volunteers, kids, parents
and carers with links to the Project, well done Stuart and congratulations!!!
